DURING THE OLYMPIC Peninsula Wineries’ Red Wine & Chocolate Tour at Eaglemount Winery outside Port Townsend on Saturday, Chocolate Serenade’s Chocolateer Jim Queen explains how he got started in the business, being a “stirrer” for his grandmother, Georgette, and the moment he discovered that he was in “the happiness business.”

“A father shared a sample of my chocolates with his 7 year old daughter. She threw her arms around his neck, kissed him and said, ‘I love you!’ He turned to me and said, ‘I’ll take 2 boxes.’

“All of this makes me happy — and that’s what gets me into the kitchen day after day!”
