TOURISM/HIKING: Finding Queets: Olympic rain forest requires a little effort

TWO OF THE most spectacular places I’ve visited are the Hoh and Quinault rain forests on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula.

I visited the former eight years ago and its magical mystery remains a treasured memory. My visit to the latter happened more recently, this past April, and I wrote about its majesty recently in this column.

Another temperate rainforest can be found between the two, the Queets Rain Forest. Given the magnificent nature of the others, I hoped for the same from the Queets Rain Forest as I left the gorgeous Quinault River Valley that April morning, which is where I continue the story of my rain forest odyssey . . .
