PORT TOWNSEND — Students at New Day Learning Academy raised $400 for Port Hadlock’s Cool Water Ranch in the annual Read to Feed campaign.
Rich and Connie Nordberg’s Cool Water Ranch is a place of shelter to those in need of a home; also provide meals at the winter Warming Center and hand out breakfast burritos to the hungry on the streets.
The donation will help to purchase coats, sleeping bags, tents and supplies to those without shelter.
This year’s Top Readers were first-grader Easton Benedict, of Port Townsend; preschooler Emma Allen, of Chimacum; and kindergartener Holland Bare, of Sequim.
