SEQUIM — The Medical Loan Closet, operated by Soroptimist International of Sequim, has reopened.
The organization loans medical equipment free of charge to residents living within the Sequim School District.
“We know that when the need for medical equipment arises, getting the equipment may be a challenge,” Soroptimist International of Sequim representatives said last week.
“We work to make it easier to obtain needed items.”
Items available from the Medical Loan Closet include walkers, wheelchairs, transport chairs, toilet risers, commodes, bath seats, bath transfer seats, bed rails, knee scooters, canes and crutches, among other equipment.
The closet is open by appointment only. For information and to arrange for a loan or return of equipment, call 360-504-0231 any day of the week.
Those calling are asked to leave a message with name, telephone number and item needed (or item being returned).
A volunteer will contact callers and set up an appointment.
Monetary donations are used to purchase new equipment and pay the rent on storage units. All donations are tax-deductible.

Soroptimist representatives said they are thankful to Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County for “stepping up and assisting the Sequim community with equipment needs when we were closed due to COVID restrictions.”
