Sequim calls for student ornaments for holiday tree

SEQUIM — The Sequim City Arts Advisory Commission invites fourth-grade, or 9-year-old, students to create an ornament to place on the city’s tree.

Students must live within the Sequim School District’s boundaries.

The tree will be on display from Dec. 3 through Jan. 1 at Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St.

The theme for the student-created ornaments is “The Importance of Kindness.”

Any materials are acceptable as long as they are dry, but no live entries, such as candles, batteries or flammable materials, are allowed.

Ornaments can be no smaller than 2 inches by 2 inches by 2 inches and no larger than 6 inches by 6 inches by 6 inches.

All ornaments must be presented with a loop of wire, ribbon or cord for attaching a hanging hook.

Ornaments should be turned in to the students’ teachers by Monday, Nov. 22.

All ornaments will be returned in January.
