Scholarship winners announced in Port Townsend

PORT TOWNSEND — The University Women’s Foundation of East Jefferson County recently awarded more than $97,000 in scholarships to 31 local women.

The recipients are:

• Haley Morrison —Elmira K. Beyer Scholarship, $11,000.

• Megan Bland — Virginia Wolf Endowed Scholarship, $8,500.

• Aria Turney —Academic Excellence Scholarship, $7,225.

• Tieryn Sian Purcell —Lisa T. Painter Endowed Scholarship, $6,000.

• Rachel Matthes —Constance Anna Pash Endowed Scholarship, $5,300.

• Ariane Danielle Daniel — Susie Pool Moses Endowed Scholarship, $4,400.

• Riley Ann Fukano —STEM Scholarship, $7,500.

• Ella Ashford —STEM Scholarship, $5,500.

• Kelly Grace —Technical Career Endowed Scholarship, $5,000.

• Molly Dickson —Technical Career Endowed Scholarship, $5,000.

• Halie Jones, Port Townsend High School; Natalie Long, Quilcene High School; and Maria Powell, Chimacum High School —High School Scholarships, $4,000:

• High School STEM awards, $100 each:

Chimacum High School: Madison Burgess, Robyn Weaver and Julia Breitweg.

Port Townsend High School: Chloe Lampert, Lillian Morrison and Elizabeth Storm.

Quilcene High School: Ashley Jones and MaKayla Robinson.

• Eight middle school girls from local schools will be attending Tech Trek STEM Camp at Pacific Lutheran University this summer, due to a generous grant from the Cross Foundation.

The foundation is an affiliate of the Port Townsend branch of the American Association of University Women.
