PORT ANGELES — After an absence of more than two years, rock and gem shows are returning to Port Angeles.
The Clallam County Gem & Mineral Association will host its Rock, Gem & Jewelry Show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Vern Burton Community Center, 308 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
The show, to be held under state and local COVID guidelines, is described by organizers as a “free, fun-family event that will have something for everyone.”
Rock vendors will have for sale rough rock, cut rock slabs, polished cabochons and specimen rocks as well as minerals, crystals and fossils from across the world.
Vendor favorites from previous events, along with new ones, will be on hand with their inventory of agates, jaspers and unusual and rare stones, organizers said.
The show also will feature jewelry and bead vendors who will offer thoughts and ideas while displaying a wide variety of bead and gemstone jewelry.
Also returning for this year’s show is “Rock Alley,” where youths can spin a wheel to win special prizes, explore the “dig box” for hidden treasures and try their skill at a bean bag toss.
New this year are grab bags filled with polished rocks and fossils. A bag containing a special silver rock means the owner gets to choose a gift from the gift table that includes specimen rocks, jewelry and other items, including small lapidary tools.
The event includes a raffle with prizes donated by vendors and club members. A snack bar for food and drinks will be provided by the Boys & Girls Club of the Olympic Peninsula’s Port Angeles Unit.
