Rock, gem club hosts Carlsborg open house this Saturday

CARLSBORG — Members of the Clallam County Gem & Mineral Association will celebrate the grand opening of their new lapidary classroom during a fall open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

The open house will be at the club’s facilities at 81 Hooker Road in Carlsborg.

The new classroom provides space for teaching metal smithing, faceting, beading, chainmaille, gem tree making, wire wrapping and other lapidary classes.

Visitors can learn how to cut and polish stones at the club’s shop under instruction by club members.

Class instructors also will be available to explain the various club classes.

The Clallam County Gem & Mineral Association is a nonprofit association organized for educational activity in the science of geology as it relates to the discovery of rock, mineral and fossils; the art of lapidary, enhancing rocks’ natural beauty; and to the promotion of rocks and “rock hounding” through information and special programs.

For more information, see www.sequimrocks.org or call club President Scott Thornhill at 360-912-2987 or publicity coordinator Kathy Schreiner at 360-681-3811.
