Rhododendron Festival wraps up today

The 70th annual Rhododendron Festival was celebrated with “A Touch of Elegance”‘ and a lot of fun on Friday and Saturday in Port Townsend.

The festival kicked off earlier last week and was topped off this weekend with the Bed Races and Kiddies Parade on Friday and, of course, the Grand Parade on Saturday.

The parade was hosted by this year’s Rhody Fest royalty, Queen Magdalena Quintana and princesses Sarah Lake and Alisha Blake, and included high school bands from across the North Olympic Peninsula.

The Rhododendron Festival concludes today.

Activities include:

* Elks Pancake Breakfast: Elks Lodge, 555 Otto St., 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.

* Jim Caldwell Memorial Rhody Open: Continues at Port Townsend Golf Course, 9 a.m.

* Rhody Run: Fort Worden State Park, registration at 9 a.m., run starts at 11 a.m.

* Rhododendron Flower Show: Fort Worden State Park Chapel, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
