Registration open now for diabetes prevention program in Sequim, Port Angeles

Registration is open for Olympic Medical Center’s diabetes prevention program.

Organizers urge anyone with pre-diabetes to consider attending to learn of more healthful lifestyle choices to improve overall health and prevent the onset of Type 2 diabetes.

OMC’s certified diabetes educator provides coaching, educational materials and resources, and facilitates peer support in a group setting.

• The Sequim series begins Sept. 7. Classes will be from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays at 840 N. Fifth Ave.

• The Port Angeles series begins Feb. 7. Classes will be from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays at 939 Caroline St.

A cost of $160 covers 16 weekly group sessions, plus 16 follow-up group sessions and all materials.

Based on the diabetes prevention program research study led by the National Institutes of Health and supported by the Centers for Disease Control, this course has proven to be an effective motivator for positive lifestyle change among those at risk for Type 2 diabetes.
