Port Angeles Garden Club issues fall award

The yard at at 326 E. 11th St. has “whimsical yard art of recycled and repurposed treasures,” according to the club.

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Garden Club has awarded the Fall Green Thumb Award to Wendy and J.D. Patterson.

From the front curb to the back alley, the yard at 326 E. 11th St. has been landscaped with shrubs, perennials and vegetables interspersed with annual color from impatiens and begonias, to name just a few, according to Mary Flo Bruce of the garden club.

The challenges of the yard have been the slope and shade, Bruce said, adding that the couple has selected plants that grow well in these conditions.

“Whimsical yard art of recycled and repurposed treasures provide interest throughout the yard,” Bruce said. “The result of 11 years of landscaping using excellent choices of plants have resulted in a showcase garden.”
