Port Angeles Dance Center plans special classes later this month

PORT ANGELES — A dancer, choreographer and teacher from New York City will conduct three open workshops for the community at the Port Angeles Dance Center later this month.

Admission to the lessons by Jessie Young will be a suggested donation of $10 for the classes at the dance center at 124 E. Front St.

The classes are:

• Modern dance master class (age 8 to 12) — 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday.

• Modern dance master class (age 13 and older) — 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

• Community dance class (recommended for ages 12 and older) — 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Thursday. No dance experience needed.

Young grew up in Port Angeles and trained for more than a decade with Mary Marcial at the Port Angeles Dance Center and Sylvia Wanner at The Ballet Workshop.

She received her MFA from the Department of Dance at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.
