There’s plenty to do on the North Olympic Peninsula this weekend, and the newspaper has two features today to guide your activities.
From concerts to galleries, Peninsula Spotlight magazine with today’s PDN highlights events relating to the arts and entertainment this weekend.
On this week’s cover is the fourth annual Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival, which will take over the Port Angeles City Pier and the nearby Red Lion Hotel.
“Crabfest” is the annual celebration of the region’s diverse bounty — the seafood, agriculture and maritime traditions.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.
For those who don’t like seafood, the column “Things to Do This Weekend,” found today on Page C7, adds other activities across the North Olympic Peninsula this weekend.
One of the more unusual events is the North Olympic Peninsula Railroaders sixth annual Train Show and Swap Meet at Greywolf Elementary School on Carlsborg Road between Sequim and Port Angeles across U.S. Highway 101 from Costco.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.
The Train Show will feature railroad items and memorabilia, model train layouts and model train items for sale.
Other events include:
* A Chocolate Octopus Underwater Treasure Hunt for divers will be held beginning at 8:45 a.m. Saturday at the Kitchen Shelter at Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend.
In addition to the hunt, there will be a variety of family-oriented activities in the Port Townsend Marine Science Center throughout the day.
Dive prizes will include five chocolate octopuses, each redeemable for $300, along with more prizes from scuba industry vendors and local merchants.
Entry fee is $30 per diver. Tickets are $35 at the door, with the registration table open at 8 a.m.

* The five-member Tuvan throat singing and folk music ensemble Tyva Kyzy performs two concerts of southern Siberian music on the North Olympic Peninsula this weekend.
The group performs at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center, 1203 E. Lauridsen Blvd. Tickets are $9 and available at Port Book & News, 104 E. First St., Port Angeles.
They then travel to Port Townsend for a 7 p.m. Sunday concert at Wheeler Theatre at Fort Worden State Park.
Admission is $12 in advance and $14 at the door. Tickets are available at Quimper Sound, 901 Water St., Port Townsend.
