Peninsula: Weekend activities from Clallam Bay to Port Hadlock

Community festivals sway into full swing — or swing into full sway — this weekend at opposite ends of the North Olympic Peninsula.

Out west, Clallam Bay Fun Days will run from today through Sunday and feature Old Time Fiddlers and fireworks on Saturday.

Back east, Hadlock Days will start today and last throughout the weekend, including lawnmower races and a classic car show.

Here are the highlights of each celebration.

Clallam Bay

Friday

* 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Messy Palettes Art Show, Sekiu Community and Conference Center.

* 6 p.m.: Potluck social, bus garage, recognizing Pioneers and royalty.

* 7 p.m.: Bingo, Sekiu community center.

* Evening: Live music by Loose Gravel, bus garage.

Saturday

* All day: Horses and petting zoo, next to bus garage.

* 9 a.m.: Poker ride race (sign-up at 8:30 a.m.), school parking lot.

* 9-11 a.m.: Children’s activities, bus garage.

* 10 a.m.-6 p.m.: Messy Palettes Art Show, Sekiu community center.

* 10 a.m.-3 p.m.: Friends of the Library book sale, library, 16990 State Highway 112.

* 10 a.m.-2 p.m.: Friends of the Library raffle, vendor area.

* 11 a.m.: Grand parade, preceded by kids’ parade, Weel Road to Morgan’s Drive Inn.

* After parade: Fireworks fund auction, bus garage.

* 11 a.m.: Clallam Bay-Sekiu Lions Club barbecue, across from bus garage.

* 1-3 p.m.: Children’s activities, bus garage.

* 2 p.m.: Old Time Fiddlers Association, bus garage.

* 3 p.m.: Jack & Jill Dart Tournament, Clallam Bay Inn (sign-up at 2 p.m.).

* 7:30: Straitside Scribes writers group reading, Sekiu community center.

* Dusk: Fireworks off Olson’s Breakwater Inn, Sekiu.

Sunday:

* 10 a.m.-4 p.m.: Messy Palettes Art Show, Sekiu community center.

* 10 a.m.: Fun run (sign-up at 9 a.m.), across from Cove Restaurant.

* Noon: Clallam Bay School alumni/family reunion potluck, Lion’s Den.

* 5 p.m.: Pop Maneval Crib Tournament, breakwater.

Fun Days button No. 5, plus back-issue buttons, will be available throughout the festival at the Fund Days Booth.

Port Hadlock

Friday

* 5-8 p.m.: Salmon bake with live music by The Reflections, The Inn at Port Hadlock

Saturday

* 7:30 a.m.: Firemen’s pancake breakfast, Kivley Center

* Also: Lawnmower races, children’s games, food, arts and crafts, Pot of Gold raffle

* 11 a.m.: Parade

Sunday:

* 7:30 a.m.: Firemen’s pancake breakfast, Kivley Center

* 11 a.m.: Family fun run and games, H.J. Carroll Park

* Noon: Barbecue lunch with concert by the Captain Fever Band, park.

* 1 p.m.: Classic car show and power run, park.

* Also: Bookmobile, Pot of Gold raffle
