PAHS, community boosts Barnett family

PORT ANGELES — It was an evening of creativity, care and community support as Port Angeles High School students, friends and family came out for “I Cross My Heart,” a talent show and silent auction to support Linda Barnett.

The auction and donations at Port Angeles High School on March 8 raised about $6,700 for Barnett and her family, event organizers said.

Barnett has worked in the Port Angeles School District as a bus driver and mail carrier for more than 23 years.

She was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in August 2018.

After several months of treatment, she has returned to work part time.

The talent show featured more than a dozen acts, while the silent auction had more than two dozen items from local businesses and individuals, from loads of gravel and compost to gift baskets, pottery, paintings, a snowboard and piano/ guitar lessons.
