Surplus sale
PORT ANGELES — Building materials and supplies at bargain prices will be available at the Builder’s Surplus Sale on Saturday.
The sale will be from noon to 3 p.m. in the Sheep Barn at the Clallam County Fairgrounds, 1608 W. 16th St., in west Port Angeles.
The annual event is sponsored by the North Peninsula Building Association.

Motorcar rally
PORT LUDLOW — Collector cars will be on display Sunday after traveling through Jefferson and Kitsap counties today and Saturday.
The 15th annual Annie & Steve Norman Classic Motorcar Rally raises money for the Port Townsend-based College Planning Network.
Motorcars from the 1930s to 1970s will be on display at the Inn at Port Ludlow, 1 Heron Road, during an awards brunch from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sunday.
Collector cars will include Alfa Romeo, Bentley, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Fiat, Corvette, Pontiac, Aston Martin and Jaguar.
Today and Saturday, rally participants are traveling a 350-mile course on roads in Jefferson and Kitsap counties to score team points.
A few checkpoints along the route include Grant Street Elementary in Port Townsend and the car collection of Ted Buckland on Marrowstone Island.
Adele and David Cohen of West Vancouver, British Columbia, will be the guest speakers.
They will talk about their participation in the 2007 Peking to Paris Rally.
The rally is sponsored by Griot’s Garage, Fred Hutchinson, Ruth Bishop and Annie and Steve Norman.

Safety day Saturday
PORT ANGELES — A bike rodeo and the opportunity to look at emergency service vehicles up close will be highlights of the seventh annual Community Safety Day on Saturday.
The event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fourth Street, between the Clallam County Courthouse and Vern Burton Community Center in Port Angeles.
Children can participate in a bike rodeo, sponsored by Port Angeles Police Department volunteers.
A limited number of free bicycle helmets will be distributed.
Emergency service vehicles will be on-site, and families can meet with fire fighters, law enforcement, Ham Radio volunteers and community education agencies.
Technicians will be available to answer questions on car seat safety.

Guest speaker
PORT TOWNSEND — Glynda Schaad will talk about her new book, Women to Reckon With: Untamed Women of the Olympic Wilderness, during the Jefferson County Historical Society’s “First Friday Lecture” today.
The talk and slide show presentation will be at 6:30 p.m. at the City Council Chambers, 540 Water St., Port Townsend.
Admission is by donation.
Schaad and her brother, co-author Gary Peterson, are fifth-generation natives of the North Olympic Peninsula.
Schaad received an English degree from Seattle Pacific University and a master’s degree in English from the University of Washington.
She teaches a course at Peninsula College called “Wild Women of the West.”
Spring performance
PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Dance Center will present its 17th annual spring performance Saturday and Sunday.
The performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, in the auditorium at Port Angeles High School, 304 E. Park Ave., Port Angeles.
Dancers, ages 5 to 6, will dance on Sunday only.
Dance styles will include ballet, jazz and modern.
Molly Barnes and Catalina Marcial, graduating seniors, will perform their own choreographed solo dances.
Ellen Pederson, also a graduating senior, will perform an original modern dance piece by Kayla Oakes, a teacher at the dance center.
Tickets for the performances cost $10 for adults; $5 for students; and free for children younger than 12.
They are available at Port Book and News, 104 E. First St.

Relay luminary sales
SEQUIM — Relay for Life of Sequim will sell luminary forms at the Sequim Open Aire Market on Cedar Street, between Sequim Avenue and Second Avenue, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Luminary forms cost $5 each.
There will also be information about the 24-hour walkathon, scheduled for Aug. 9-10.
