SEQUIM — Director Jim Guthrie is seeking actors “who aren’t afraid to take chances” for the Olympic Theatre Arts production of “The Tin Woman,” which will open on April 20 and run for three weekends through May 6.
“This means those kinds of men and women with acting experience interested in working with a script that demands actors, director and crew to be adaptable to changes,” Guthrie said. “We all will have to check fear at the door.”
Auditions began Thursday and will continue at 2 p.m. Saturday at Olympic Theatre Arts Center, 414 N. Sequim Ave. Rehearsals begin in February.
The play, written by Sean Grennan, focuses on a young woman who has a heart transplant operation and tries to deal with the change to her life, along with trying to reconcile the situation with the family of the heart donor.
The script calls for six actors who will portray two young women in their 20s to 30s, a young man in his 20s to 30s, a woman in her 30s to 40s, a woman in her 50s to 60s, and a man in his 50s to 60s.
“The challenge with staging the play,” Guthrie said, “is that Grennan’s play resembles a screenplay, with fast scene changes, scenes that overlap and flashbacks.”
