NEWS BRIEFS: Unity guest speaker set for weekend … and other items

SEQUIM — The Sequim Valley Church of the Nazarene will host a team for the World Vision Global 6K for Water at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The run/walk fundraiser will be held at the Sequim Valley Church of the Nazarene, 481 Carlsborg Road.

The event will raise money for clean water projects worldwide.

According to the World Vision website, six kilometers is the average distance a person in the developing world has to walk to find water.

Unity speaker

PORT ANGELES — Timothy West will present “God Has a Sense of Humor” at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

West will be the guest speaker at Unity in the Olympics, 2917 E. Myrtle Ave. Sunday service begins at 10 a.m. Child care is available.

Evensong

CHIMACUM — The Rev. Simon Ruth de Voil will offer music for an Evensong service from 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Sunday.

The service will be held in the Chimacum Grange, 9572 Rhody Drive.

Evensong is a contemplative, Celtic, Christian service.

The public is welcome to attend this free service, there will be a quiet play area for children.

Supper and show

PORT ANGELES — The Peninsula Evangelical Friends Church will host “Supper and a Show” at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Friends will serve homemade soup, bread, rolls and homemade cookies at Friends Church, 1291 N. Barr Road.

During dinner they will show the 2004 documentary “The Privileged Planet.”

This family-friendly film screening is free and open to the public.
