NEWS BRIEFS: Day of peace observance slated … and other items

SEQUIM — The Baha’is of Clallam County East will host an observance of the International Day of Peace at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

The free event will be held in the meeting room at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.

The public is invited to bring inspirational quotations, music or art to share at this multi-faith commemoration.

PORT ANGELES — Marie McCartney will present “Conflict is Good” at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

McCartney will be the guest speaker at Unity in the Olympics, 2917 E. Myrtle Ave. Sunday service begins at 10 a.m.

Lecture series

PORT ANGELES — Bob Larsen will present “Carbon Sources and Sinks: Where Do Carbon Emissions Come From and Where Do They Go?” from 11 a.m. to noon Sunday in the downstairs fellowship hall at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 E. Lopez Ave.

The lecture series is free and open to the public.

Earth celebration

PORT ANGELES — The North Olympic Peninsula Interfaith Earthcare Coalition will host a celebration of the Earth at 4 p.m. Sunday.

The event will be held in the meadow at Webster’s Woods, 1203 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

The event will feature ceremonies and meditations from a variety of faiths and will include dance, song, movement and word.

Grateful Harmony

Taize Service

PORT ANGELES — St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth St., will host an ecumenical Taize service from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.

The service includes song, prayer and contemplation in a meditative atmosphere.

Participants may join the chorus or simply sit peacefully during the service and experience the calming effect of being in God’s presence.
