PORT ANGELES — The Mount Pleasant Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has sustained Jason Bringhurst as bishop at a service on Jan. 17.
Bringhurst replaces Bishop Jacob Woodhouse, who served as bishop since 2015.
Within the Latter-day Saints, bishops are congregation members who are called to lead a local congregation, or ward.
According to a press release, bishops have duties within their ward that are similar to those of a pastor, priest or rabbi.
Bringhurst, his wife Jen and their six children recently moved to Port Angeles to be closer to Jen’s parents.
