SEQUIM — Port Angeles residents won the prize in the Case of the Silver Lining Secret Formula during the Sequim-Dungness Valley Chamber Merchant Group and First Friday Art Walk of Sequim presentation of the fifth-annual Whodunnit Downtown.
Nancy, Travis and Xavier Caskey of Port Angeles solved the mystery last Friday. The winner was drawn by random and prizes were donated by local Sequim Businesses.
The first game card drawn with the correct answer won the prize of a variety of experiences from John Wayne’s Waterfront Resort, R&T Crystals ’n’ Beads, Rainshadow Café, Bag Ladies of Sequim, Fieldnotes and Olympic Lavender Company.
The guilty party turned out to be Madame Iris Mirror the Pollyanna Patron of the Arts who stole Dr. Sean Steel’s research notebook in “Whodunnit Downtown?”
“Whodunnit Downtown?” characters included Emily Westcott as Samantha Samson, Sam’s Soda Shoppe owner; Crystal Stout as Sandy Samson, Samantha Samson’s niece; Richard Stephens as bottle manufacturer Andrew Ash; Lara Starcevich as Madame Iris Mirror, Pollyanna Patron of the Arts; Joe Borden as dance instructor Thomas Twostep; Tawawa Borden as dance instructor Tilly Twostep; Jeff Perry as weatherman Miles Mercury; Priscilla Patterson as ladies’ magazine reporter Pandora Wright; Scott Clausen as local police officer Hank Bismuth; Nell Clausen as FBI agent Kay Keen, and Renne Emiko Brock was chemist doctor Sean Steel.
This year, unique as you/Renne Emiko Brock produced the community event. Businesses that participated by hosting a clue included Bag Ladies of Sequim, Blue Whole Gallery, City of Sequim Civic Center, Fieldnotes, Forage Gifts & Northwest Treasures, Peninsula Taproom, Rainshadow Café, R & T Crystals ’n’ Beads, Sunshine Café, That Takes the Cake, and Wind Rose Cellars.
Next year’s “Whodunnit Downtown?” event is already in the planning stages with a 1960s theme. It will be dubbed, “The Case of the Mistaken Tin Foil Hat,” slated for Jan. 4.
