PORT ANGELES — Astound Broadband Powered by Wave has donated $17,500 to Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County to support the organization’s mission of “bringing people together to build homes, community and hope,” the business announced.
This donation provided earlier this month will support a combination of new home construction and repairs to existing area homes, company representatives said.
“Finding affordable housing in Clallam County has become more challenging than ever, so this timely gift will support our ability to continue executing locally on our mission,” Colleen Robinson, chief executive officer of Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County, said in a press release.
“There’s something especially powerful about bringing the community together to build homes and hope — and we are grateful to Astound for supporting our efforts.”
Established in 1991 as Dungeness Valley Habitat, Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County is currently building home No. 37 and No. 38.
In 2015, the organization added repair programs to its scope of work and has served hundreds of local families through its “Rally in the Alley” program and neighborhood clean-ups.

The recently donated funds will “help support the Habitat for Humanity’s mission that is in line with broader values that Astound wholeheartedly supports — literacy opportunities, mentorship programs for youth, housing, food security, and social services for all,” company representatives said.
