LaPUSH — The spotlight has faded for First Beach in LaPush.
The landscape will no longer play center stage in the upcoming filming of the movie “Twilight.”
But what beach will masquerade as the backdrop for a pivotal scene in the movie has not yet been determined, according to the production studio Summit Entertainment.
The filming schedule is being reorganized for the film to wrap by the end of the month — within the 50 day schedule.
The movie is based on the best-selling series by Arizona writer Stephenie Meyer.
The series — beginning with Twilight — follows the story of 17-year-old Bella Swan who moves to Forks to live with her police chief father, Charlie Swan, when her mother remarries.
While still adjusting to the cloud-covered, rainy town, she meets and falls in love with the enigmatic and alluring Edward Cullen whom she later discovers is a vampire.
The book is followed by New Moon and Eclipse.
The fourth book in the series, Breaking Dawn, will be released Aug. 2.
The LaPush scene involves a beach party in which Bella’s friend Jacob reveals to her that Edward is a vampire.
Meanwhile, the town of St. Helens, Ore. will be dressed to portray Port Angeles for another important scene in the next couple weeks.
Rumors that filming would take place in the real Port Angeles were not fulfilled, but several groups of teens and their mothers visited town to track down film crews.
Some film schedule sheets apparently said Port Angeles would be the location of an April 9 filming — but the actual location was in the fake Port Angeles in St. Helens, Ore.
LaPush was originally slated for an April 24 shooting of the scene, but the distance from the Portland-area filming proved too far.
Although none of the film will be shot on the North Olympic Peninsula, some real bits of local items will be visible.
Several student letter jackets will be used in a few scenes for the movie — they will even feature real students’ names, even though the actual students won’t be extras in the film, Forks Chamber of Commerce director Marsha Bingham said.
Cars and uniforms made to look like the Forks Police Department are also in the movie.
Displays of yearbooks and T-shirts and signs touting Spartan spirit are strewn throughout Kalama Middle High School which is standing in for Forks High School.
Robert Pattinson _ whose claim to fame was his role as Cedric Diggory in “Harry Potter _ will play the gold-eyed vampire Edward.
Kristen Stewart _ who starred alongside Meg Ryan in “In the Land of Women” and was recently in “The Messengers” _ will be Bella.
Jacob, the Quileute native who lives in LaPush and is Bella’s best friend, will be played by Taylor Lautner _ from “The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl.”
