JOHN NELSON’S LIVE MUSIC COLUMN: Shake in your boots for Halloween week

THE GOOD LORD must be willing and the creek didn’t rise, so that means I’m back with this week’s music lineup and will be here in the weeks to come.

It’s going to be a spooktacular week, with Halloween parties over several nights.

Port Angeles

■ Today at Castaways Restaurant and Night Club, 1213 Marine Drive, Jerry’s Country Jam lasts from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with country’s golden oldies.

On Saturday, costume up to the country rock of the Jimmy Hoffman Band from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Your getup may win the costume contest.

■ On Friday, the Junction Roadhouse, 242701 U.S. Highway 101, celebrates Halloween with prizes, snacks and Junkyard Jane’s roots-rockin’ blues from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

On Sunday, Terry Rozyticki and friends country up at 7 p.m.

Wednesdays through the NFL season will find Jason Mogi and Paul Stehr-Green headlining Deadwood Experiment at 8 p.m.

■ Justin Scott Rivet goes solo Mondays from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Bar N9ne, 229 W. First St.

■ On Sunday at Next Door Gastropub, 113 W. First St., Farmstrong plays at 5 p.m.

■ On Friday, Les Wamboldt and Olde Tyme Country play at the Fairmount Restaurant, 1127 W. U.S. Highway 101, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

On Sunday, join the country jam from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, Dave and Rosalie Secord and Luck of the Draw play with musical guest Denny Secord Jr. from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

■ On Friday at Blackbird Coffeehouse, 336 Eighth St., folk, rock and country blues band Redwing features Doug Parent, Eric Neurath, Jenny James and Dan Maguire from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

■ Every Tuesday at the Port Angeles Senior Center, 328 E. Seventh St., the Port Angeles Senior Swingers present Wally’s Boys playing ballroom dance favorites from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. $5 cover; first-timers free.

On Wednesday, Charlie Ferris entertains the public for the Halloween party from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

■ At Dupuis Restaurant, 256861 U.S. Highway 101, Bob and Dave play blues Wednesday through Saturday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Sequim and Blyn

■ On Friday at the Oasis Bar and Grill, 301 E. Washington St., Rocktober Fest features three bands and a costume contest starting at 9 p.m.

On Saturday, Awesome Bob entertains from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, Old Sidekicks perform at 5:30 p.m.

■ It’s “All the Buzz” Wednesday at the Sequim Senior Activity Center, 921 E. Hammond St., with Kelly and Victor hosting the open mic from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

■ On Friday at Stymie’s Bar & Grill at Cedars at Dungeness, 1965 Woodcock Road, R and B (Rachael and Barry) perform classic rock and Motown from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

■ On Friday in Club Seven Lounge at 7 Cedars Casino, Blyn, the local Turner Brothers Band plays requests from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

On Saturday, the casino’s Halloween costume party features the band Golddigger from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., with a costume contest, too.

On Sunday, sway to the Stardust Big Band from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Port Townsend

■ On Friday at The Upstage, 923 Washington St., founder and pioneer of flatpicking Dan Crary & Thunderation present an Americana acoustic experience from 7:30 p.m. $10 cover.

On Saturday, the Stacy Jones Blues Band shows why it was voted Best New Blues Band in 2009 and Best Female Vocalist of 2010 by the Washington Blues Society. The show starts at 8 p.m. $10 cover.

On Wednesday, Jim Nyby and the F Street Band plays for the Halloween costume party at 6 p.m. Come as your favorite (or least favorite) entertainer from music, film or TV. $6 cover.

■ On Friday at Sirens Pub, 823 Water St., Diminished Men play psychedelic music with tones of surf rock at 10 p.m. $5 cover.

On Saturday, get up for Sirens’ Halloween Hoot with Port Townsend’s classic-rock supergroup Aardvark at 10 p.m. $5 cover.

■ Today at the Undertown, 211 Taylor St., spend an evening with The Kreep at 8 p.m. $15 at the door.

On Friday, Meg and Julie perform at 5 p.m., The Kreep plays at 8 p.m., and the Robin Bessier Trio follows at 9 p.m.

On Saturday at 6 p.m., Dreamtime performs, followed by The Kreep at 8 p.m. $10 advance cover.

■ Steve Grandinetti plays guitar at the Owl Sprit Cafe, 218 Polk St., today from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

■ Today, classical guitarist Trevor Hanson plays at Ichikawa Japanese Cuisine, 1208 Water St., from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

■ Every Monday, Trevor Hanson plays at Alchemy, 842 Washington St., from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

■ Steve Grandinetti plays and sings at the Northwest Maritime Center Cafe, Port Townsend, on Thursdays and Fridays from noon till 2 p.m.

High notes

■ On Saturday at the Port Townsend Grange, 1219 Corona St., Whozyamama plays for an all-ages Cajun/zydeco dance from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., with pre-dance lessons from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. $12 cover for adults.

■ On Saturday, Sarge’s Place in Forks has its annual fundraiser at the Roundhouse, 110 LaPush Road, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The party features music by Therapy Session, Monica Henry, Sally Milici and the Forkestra. Admission by donation.
