Jefferson County seeks volunteers for planning commisson

PORT TOWNSEND — Jefferson County is seeking two volunteers to sit on the its Planning Commission.

The seats are for four-year terms that will begin Friday, July 1, and represent districts 2 and 3.

The commission typically meets at 5:30 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month.

Although the commissioners are volunteers, they are paid a $50 stipend for each meeting they attend.

Commissioners assist the Department of Community Development with recommendations for the Board of County Commissioners, review the comprehensive plan and development regulations, coordinate among boards, committees and commissions and holding public hearings.

The commission does not review specific project permits.

District 2 includes eastern Discovery Bay, the Tri-Area, Marrowstone Island, northern Oak Bay and south along Center Road to Highway 104.

District 3 extends from southern Oak Bay to South County and the West End.

More information and application packets are posted at www.co.jefferson.wa.us/1233/vacancies.

Applications may be submitted online or mailed to: Jefferson County Board of Commissioners, PO Box 1220, Port Townsend, WA 98368.

Applications are open until the positions are filled.
