PORT TOWNSEND — The Jefferson County Food Bank Growers Network will conduct a plant sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
The fundraising sale is at Birchyville Farm, 206 Hancock St.
The sale features cool season vegetable starts along with a variety of ornamental plants.
Mixing flowering plants among vegetables may help attract pollinators, according to a growers network press release.
The network is also offering row cover kits at cost to gardeners who commit to growing a row of vegetables for one of the four Jefferson County food banks.
The network estimates that if half the population of Port Townsend would plant a 10-foot row of vegetables, then the food banks would receive the produce of a row seven miles long.
