PORT ANGELES — A free international potluck social will be held on Wednesday.
The social will be from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the House of Learning Longhouse at Peninsula College, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.
There is no admission charge, and the potluck is open individuals, families and children.
The potluck will celebrate Native American and Black cultural heritages and their foods — but dishes representing other cultures are also welcome.
Those attending are asked to bring a favorite food or snacks directly to the Longhouse beginning at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Musical performances and displays of arts and cultural items are also welcome.
The potluck is sponsored by the Community Multi-Cultural Alliance.
“While we celebrate friends and neighbors with Native American and Black cultural heritages, all are welcome and encouraged to attend — Asian and Pacific Islanders, Hispanic, European, LGBT and ‘none of the above,'” says Diana Somerville, vice president of the Multi-Cultural Alliance.

The Multi-Cultural Alliance’s previous potlucks recognized Asian and Pacific Islands cultures and foods Feb. 29 and the foods and cultures of Mexico, Central America and South America on May 30.
The Multi-Cultural Alliance is a countywide nonprofit group focused on how to improve diversity, equality and cultural awareness.
Its board members include community, religious, educational governmental and business leaders and representatives from the Coast Guard and Lower Elwha Klallam tribe.
Interested community members are welcome to participate in the group’s activities. Its quarterly board meetings are open to the public.
The Longhouse is located on the south side of the Peninsula College campus.
Parking is available in the campus main lot, by the soccer field, and Science and Tech building.
There are handicapped and elders parking spots in front of the Longhouse.
Opened in October 2007, the Longhouse is a learning center both for Native American students and others interested in Native cultures.
