PORT ANGELES — Linda Crow is fond of heights.
A veteran aviator who makes her home in the Olympic foothills above Port Angeles, Crow has a passion for travel to destinations remote and exotic.
And Friday at 7 p.m., she’ll take an audience with her, with the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center the point of liftoff.
Crow, whose love of photography matches her love for exploration, will give a slide show of images from Nepal and Bhutan, aka the rooftop of the world, at the center at 1203 E. Lauridsen Blvd.
Admission is by donation.
This is “a gift to us stay-at-homes, who can glimpse into strange worlds through her striking photographs,” said Jake Seniuk, director of the center.
“With the sensibility of an anthropologist and the eye of an artist, Crow has a knack for gaining the trust of her subjects,” he said, adding that this allows her to make unaffected portraits of elders and children, religious celebrants, farmers and others across many walks of life.
Enter Stage Left
Crow’s show is part of the fine arts center’s “Enter Stage Left” series of presentations at 7 p.m. each Friday through early May.
Next Friday, April 27, artist and songstress Jenny Steelquist and friends will fill the fine arts center with live music, from rock to jazz to classical to R&B.
Finally, on May 4, theater artist and Port Angeles City Councilman Max Mania will present “Mania 2012: Zombies, Politicians & Mayan Predictions,” an evening of comic sketches and kooky characters.
The “Enter Stage Left” series complements “Strait Art 2012,” the current exhibition that showcases 29 local artists in two galleries: the fine arts center and the PUB Gallery at Peninsula College, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.
Admission is free to both venues. Their shows stay up through May 13.
