BITTER COLD SEEMED to make for better fun at last weekend’s Washington State High School Equestrian Team competition during which Port Angeles’ Sydney Hutton and Sara Holland — aka Joker and Batman — placed first in working pairs as well as first and second in the jumping competition.
Sequim’s Keri Tucker continued her top-five winning streak by earning her second first-place win of the season in Working Rancher.
Overall, both teams tallied 16 top-five wins at the District 4 meet at Grays Harbor Fairgrounds.
Team lauded
Port Angeles Coach Nancy McCaleb lauded her team’s successes, saying, “All the team functions were held outside this time — and that was bitter cold — but at least we got to visit together this time!”
With masks on, of course.
While the March meet took place in the large and spacious indoor arena, only the parent who was helping the student was allowed on the fairgrounds due to COVID-19 restrictions. Thankfully, those limitations are loosening, and hopefully, all restrictions on gatherings will be lifted soon.
