PORT TOWNSEND — Guitarist Michael Mandrell and harpist David Michael will offer an evening of what they call “world fusion” music in an intimate house concert Friday.
Mandrell, a finger-style guitarist from Taos, N.M., and Michael, who lives in Port Townsend, will perform starting at 7 p.m. at the home of Deborah Wood, 1080 McPherson St., at the corner of 11th and McPherson streets.
Admission is a suggested donation of $10 to $20, and listeners are welcome to bring pillows, folding chairs and beverages.
Mandrell’s music, described on his website, www.MichaelMandrell.com, as exotic and jazzy, is often featured on the Public Radio International program “Echoes.”
His hybrid style “reveals a guitarist of eclectic sensibilities and delicate technique,” noted Kimberly Haas, the show’s executive director.
“His music circles the globe,” she added.
Mandrell has appeared with fellow artists from Lyle Lovett, Nanci Griffith, and the late Kate Wolf to Spyro Gyra, William Ackerman, Shadowfax and Townes Van Zandt.
Michael, meanwhile, has recorded 23 CDs and recently published a memoir, Busker: Tales of a Renegade Harpist.
He’s known for his 17 years of playing harp on Washington state ferries — a stint that ended in 2007 due to security concerns.
