Free outdoor concerts on North Olympic Peninsula this week (yes, free!)

PACK UP A picnic dinner, grab your lawn chair or a blanket — don’t forget your sunglasses if it isn’t cloudy, or a coat if it’s chilly — and head to one of the free and family-friendly outdoor concerts in Jefferson and Clallam counties this holiday week:

■ SEQUIM — Tuesday, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Dukes of Dabob (Dixieland jazz).

This is part of the city of Sequim’s Music in the Park series every Tuesday at the outdoor James Center for the Performing Arts amphitheater in the Sequim Water Reuse Park, 563 N. Rhodefer Road, just north of Carrie Blake Park, through Aug. 28.

Bring your own seating to the grassy expanse in front of the amphitheater.

Snacks are available from a concession stand staffed by the Sequim High School Band Boosters.

Next Concert in the Park: Mark Whitman Band (rhythm and blues) July 10.

■ SEQUIM — 3 p.m. Wednesday, special Fourth of July concert (marches, Broadway tunes, patriotic songs) by the Sequim City Band at the James Center amphitheater (see above; bring your own seating, arrive early for the best spots).

■ FORKS — 6:30 p.m. to dusk Wednesday, Music in the Park, Tillicum Park, part of the Forks Old-Fashioned Fourth of July (downtown parade at noon; fireworks in the park about 10 p.m.). Bring your own seating.

■ PORT ANGELES — Wednesday, two bands 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Port Angeles City Pier following the Fourth of July parade downtown (at 6 p.m.) and just before fireworks over Port Angeles Harbor (about 10 p.m.).

From 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.: Old Sidekicks (country western).

From 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Fat Chance (classic rock and roll).

This is part of the Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Concert on the Pier series. Concerts are every Wednesday through Sept. 5 at City Pier.

City Pier is a no-smoking, no-skateboards, alcohol-free venue.

Some chairs are available for the disabled and early arrivals.

Next Concert on the Pier: Luck of the Draw (bluegrass) July 11.

■ PORT TOWNSEND — Wednesday, 7 p.m., Port Townsend Summer Band Independence Day concert at the Port Townsend American Legion Hall, corner of Water and Monroe streets.

■ PT concerts later this month — The free Port Townsend Concerts on the Dock music series begins July 19 with The Better Half (funk rock and soul).
