Fourth Friday Readings to feature award-winning local poets

SEQUIM — Sequim’s Fourth Friday Readings tonight will feature the North Olympic Peninsula’s Judith R. Duncan and John Victor Anderson.

The free readings will begin at 6:15 p.m. in the media room at The Lodge, 660 Evergreen Farm Road.

Duncan won first place awards in Tidepools, Peninsula College’s annual literary magazine, in 2015 and 2018, and has published in several volumes including the anthology “In the Words of Olympic Peninsula Authors.”

Duncan holds a master’s degree in urban studies as well as an MBA. For several years she worked the Washington State University Chicken Hotline and presented seminars on domestic bird care, breeding and disease control; now she maintains a haven for abused and abandoned chickens.

Anderson has earned several degrees, including a Master of Fine Arts degree in poetry. He is writing his dissertation for a doctorate through the University of Louisiana, specializing in poetry, folkloristics and American literature.

Anderson teaches English classes at Peninsula College and at the Clallam Bay Corrections Center. He has a long list of publishing credits in many anthologies and journals.

An hour of five-minute open mic readings will follow the presentation. Interested writers should come early to submit their names.

Participants are urged to rehearse in advance, as the readings are timed. For guidelines, email to linda bmyers@yahoo.com.

Published writers are welcome to bring their books and sell before and after the event.
