First day of fall in Jefferson County

Days start getting shorter

The leaves of three maple trees on the corner of Washington and Benedict streets in Port Townsend have begun to change from green to red and have started to fall.

The fall equinox is at 6:30 a.m. and signals when daylight and nighttime are equally 12 hours. After today, days will be shorter than nights until the start of spring.
