Crafts by the Dock scheduled this weekend

PORT TOWNSEND — The 51st annual Crafts by the Dock Fair will offer a variety of local handmade goods on Saturday and Sunday just one block from the Wooden Boat Festival.

The fair will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday on Madison at Water streets and the Pope Marine Plaza.

The Wooden Boat Festival will be from Friday through Sunday at the Northwest Maritime Center and the Point Hudson Marina.

The Crafts by the Dock Fair will feature many new artists as well as old favorites.

Some of the juried arts and crafts made by exhibiting artists include handmade furniture, metal sculptural work by Robert Shashinda, hammocks by Mark Richardson, handwoven rugs and clothing, paintings, tiles, nuno felted clothing, painted silk scarves and Renaissance Rags velvet burnout clothing, dolls, upcycled cashmere accessories, scarves, hand-felted fun hats, porcelain and stoneware pottery, leatherwork, turned bowls, jewelry from glass, hammered copper fish by Ben Shepard and lampworked bead jewelry.

Returning to the fair are Captain John’s knot work, Vincent LaRochelle’s gold and silver jewelry set with semi precious stones, Nimbus Candles, Damascus steel kitchen and hunting knives by Jim Stewart and Meg Bradley’s silver jewelry.

Port Townsend Glassworks will do demos and sales. In addition, artists and craftspeople will be inside the Cotton Building in the plaza.

Local musicians George Radebaugh and friends will perform.

The Port Townsend Arts Guild is a local self-supporting nonprofit arts organization offering college scholarships to local students majoring in the arts.

This year’s recipients are Matia Reimnitz for studying dance at Skidmore College and Maria Powell, who is studying Jazz performance at the University of Northern Texas.
