FORKS — Daniel Gullota will present “Andrew Jackson, Native Americans, and the Indian Removal Act” at 7 p.m. Friday.
The free lecture is part of the Studium West series presented at Peninsula College Forks, 481 S. Forks Ave.
Gullota will explore how democratic the “Age of Jacksonian Democracy” actually was.
The lecture will be followed by a group discussion and light refreshments.

Community connections
PORT ANGELES — Clallam County Homeless Outreach will host Community Resources Connection from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.
The free, one-day, one-stop community event is at the Verne Burton Center, 308 E. Fourth St.
The event, formerly known as “Clallam County Homeless Connect,” helps residents struggling with homelessness to connect with community resources.
According to a press release, participants will be able to connect with services like housing assistance, ID vouchers, clothing, food, health insurance, social services, veteran services, legal assistance, vaccinations, urgent dental care, medical services and pet care.
Free bus rides are available from anywhere in Clallam County.

Book wars
PORT ANGELES — The North Olympic Library System will host the 2019-20 Book Wars final competition at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Teams of seventh- and eighth-graders from Sequim Middle School, Stevens Middle School, Crescent School, Olympic Peninsula Academy, Markishtum Middle School, Quileute Tribal School and Forks Junior High School will compete in the literary trivia competition at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.
Friday’s event is the culmination of reading and competition throughout the school year.
Questions will be drawn from the books “Hey, Kiddo” by Jarrett Krosoczka, “Attucks! Oscar Robertson and the Basketball Team that Awakened a City” by Phillip M. Hoose, “The Assassination of Brangwain Spurge” by M. T.
