Comedian to perform Thursday

PORT ANGELES — Boston comedian and actor Corey Rodrigues is returning to Peninsula College for a show at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Thursday’s show, which will be in the Little Theater on the Port Angeles campus at 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., is free to Peninsula College students and by donation to community members.

Rodrigues, who has performed on Fox, NBC, Dry Bar Comedy, Gotham Comedy, as well as at colleges, comedy clubs and corporate events all over the country, last performed at Peninsula College in February 2020.

“I am elated to welcome Corey for our comedy show,” said Laken Folsom, Associated Student Council vice president.

“It’s an act we think the community will enjoy very much and a guaranteed laugh.”

Rodrigues appeared on late-night TV on the Conan O’Brien Show in 2019 and in 2020, he released a 30-minute comedy special for the EPIX series Unprotected Sets.

More recently, Rodrigues has starred in several commercials and in the 2022 streaming film Salesman. He also played a major role in the independent film Business is War, directed by the late Kemal Gordan, where he played the role of a financially-challenged character named “Black.”

Earlier in his career, he was the winner of Catch a New Rising Star, he won the Funniest Comic in New England award and he appeared on Gotham Live, Laughs on Fox and Tru TV’s Laff Mobbs Laff Tracks. In 2018, he released his Dry Bar Comedy special and was picked as one of TBS’s Comics to Watch at the New York Comedy Fest.

The show is the second in a three-part comedy series the Peninsula College ASC is hosting for the student body and the community. The final show will be in the spring.

Rodrigues will perform a second show at Pirate Casino Night on Friday for the athletic department’s fundraiser. Tickets for that show, if not sold out, are $90, and available by contacting Donald Rollman at drollman @pencol.edu.
