PORT ANGELES — Rachael and Chad don’t look old enough to have 14 years of musical history together.
But the Portland, Ore., pair, who are making their first foray to Clallam County on Saturday, found each other early: Rachael was a high school senior and Chad a college freshman.
They’ve been married 12 years now and cooking up a storm of country music with some rock ’n’ roll stirred in.
Rachael and Chad Hamar, aka Cloverdayle, have shared stages with Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw and Lady Antebellum. But they’re not a band for only the country crowd, Rachael said in an interview this week.
In Saturday’s show at Olympic Cellars — the second in the winery’s summer benefit concert series — she promises Cloverdayle will dish out a night full of dance-friendly music.
Both Rachael and her husband are songwriters, so their sets feature plenty of originals, plus covers ranging from Janis Joplin and John Mellencamp to Marc Broussard’s “Home” and Bobbie Gentry’s “Mississippi Delta.”
Cloverdayle — the Hamars and their three-piece band — will step onto the stage at 7 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $10, with a portion of proceeds benefiting the Jet Set Soroptimist-Peninsula College Foundation scholarship fund.
Fifty percent of the take will go to the Women of Opportunity Scholarship, awarded to a female student who is the sole breadwinner for her family, said Olympic Cellars owner Kathy Charlton.
Charlton and her crew will open the gate to the winery’s covered patio at 6 p.m. to start pouring beverages and serving the Garden Bistro’s wood-fired pizza.
Olympic Cellars is hosting a concert every Saturday night through this month. Rockers Fat Chance are booked for Aug. 20 and the Beatles tribute band Creme Tangerine for Aug. 27.
Meantime, Cloverdayle’s country-rock sound has Charlton, a Dallas native, primed for the weekend.
“This Texas gal is more than excited,” she said.
