Clallam Mosaic sets ‘Masquerade’ fundraiser

Event to showcase works of participants, local artists

PORT ANGELES — Tickets are available now for the Mosaic Masquerade set for Saturday, Oct. 26.

Clallam Mosaic, a local nonprofit that aims to empower individuals with special needs, will host the fundraiser at the Elks Naval Lodge, 131 E. First St.

Tickets are $75. Entry includes a multi-course dinner, live entertainment, live and silent auctions and surprises throughout the evening.

Inspired by the romance and mystery of “The Phantom of the Opera,” guests are invited to wear masks and costumes.

Tickets can be purchased by calling 360-681-8642, visiting www.clallam mosaic.org/masquerade or emailing info@clallam mosaic.org.

The evening will begin with a social hour and preview at 4 p.m. Wine tasting will feature wines from Hurricane Hills Winery in Port Angeles. A cash bar also will be available.

This year’s event will feature guest performances by members of the Olympic Peninsula Men’s Chorus and by soloist Mark Lorentzen.

“Mosaic supports a vibrant community of individuals with special needs, their families and caregivers because of the generosity of the surrounding community,” said Priya Jayadev, Clallam Mosaic executive director.

“The Masquerade will showcase the works of our participants with hand-crafted masks available at every table and their art work on display throughout the room.”

Dinner service will begin at 5 p.m. It will feature Gorgonzola pear salad, a choice of prosciutto stuffed chicken or vegetarian lasagna, and assorted cakes and chocolate mousse cups.

A dessert auction will showcase local bakers, including sweet bites from First Street Haven in Port Angeles and The Sweet Beginning in Sequim.

Live auction items showcasing local experiences will include an Island Adventure whale-watching tour for two; a two-night stay at Whiskey Creek beach; an airplane ride over the Dungeness/Sequim area; a self-defense class for up to eight people with Phoenix Dragon Martial Arts; and two round-trip tickets to Victoria aboard the MV Coho ferry.

The silent auction will feature a golf package from Cedars at Dungeness; a family membership to the Seattle aquarium; a “Star Wars”-themed quilt from Sunbonnet Quilters; an entry package to the 2020 North Olympic Discovery marathon; a backpack picnic basket; a cooking basket complete with a Portuguese copper cataplana; and gift certificates from local restaurants and businesses.

Also featured will be works by local artists: an award-winning painting by Ryoko Toyama, a carved gourd from Debbie Cain, two artists showing at Sequim’s Blue Whole Gallery and jewelry from Ocean Ink.

Funds raised during the evening will support Clallam Mosaic’s day programs, one-on-one services for individuals with special needs and support to families and caregivers.
