Clallam County Master Gardeners given 2022 Golden Trowel awards

SEQUIM — The Clallam County Master Gardeners awarded their Golden Trowel to four volunteers at an outdoor ceremony at the Woodcook Demonstration Garden in Sequim.

The honorees were Jan Barton, Barbara Heckard, John Viada and Diane Wheeler.

The Golden Trowel is presented to master gardeners who have been active for more than five years, donated more than 750 hours of volunteer time and demonstrated outstanding service promoting education and environmental stewardship.

Each awardee has a rock paver with their name engraved on it installed at the entrance to the Woodcock Demonstration Garden, among the pavers naming the previous recipients of the award.

The gardeners also recognized the 2020 honorees: Bev Dawson, Betsy Burlingame and Bruce Pape and the 2021 honorees: Teresa Bibler, Jan Danford, Laurel Moulton and Audreen Williams; the award ceremonies for those years were limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
