PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County Fair has announced its 2023 Fair Royalty Court.
Queen Allison Pettit of Port Angeles, Princess Olivia Ostlund of Sequim and Junior Princess Kendall Adolphe of Sequim were crowned last Saturday.
They will represent the fair during its four days from Aug. 17-20 as well as participate in the parades for Sequim Irrigation Festival, Port Townsend Rhododendron Festival, the Forks and Port Angeles Fourth of July celebrations and Joyce Daze.
The theme for this year’s fair is “Country Nights and Carnival Lights.”
The fair is set for Thursday, Aug. 17, through Sunday, Aug. 20.
The queen and princess receive scholarships: $500 for the queen and $400 for the princess.
All three members of the royal court have lived in Clallam County all their lives.
Queen
Pettit, 17, is a junior at Port Angeles High School and a Running Start student at Peninsula College.
Her parents are Pete and Michele Pettit.
Her sponsors are Herman Brothers Logging and Construction and Westport LLC.
Pettit is the senior chief and member of the color guard team, performing flag detail and air rifle precision team in the Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC.) She also is on the physical training team for NJROTC.
She plays the double bass in the high school symphonic orchestra and said she enjoys writing funny stories and making people laugh.
Pettit’s hobbies are deer hunting with her dad, fishing, hiking and quad riding.
She plans to attend University of Washington to study environmental science and marine biology.
Her platform is the high school NJROTC program with hopes of instilling leadership skills in others.
Princess
Ostlund, 17, is a junior at Sequim High School (SHS).
Her parents are Jeromy and April Wright and Bob Ostlund.
Her sponsors are Caregivers Home Health Inc. and Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula.
This is Ostlund’s first year in the Sequim FFA program at SHS. She plans to show the rabbits she has raised at the 2023 Clallam County Fair.
A Girl Scout at the Ambassador level, she is also a member of the Sequim unit of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula.
Ostlund participates in the SHS bowling team and Port Angeles Youth Bowling League, where she started out at 3 years old.
She plans to attend an auto mechanics program at Wyoming Tech in Wyoming.
Her platform is the Boys & Girls Clubs of America with hopes of encouraging others.
Junior Princess
Adolphe, 12, is in the sixth grade at Sequim Middle School.
Her parents are Jeremie and Kyla Adolphe.
Her sponsor is J & J Construction.
Adolphe is a member of the Clallam County 4-H Lambchop Club. Her 4H projects are poultry and swine. She said she looks forward to being a part of the Clallam County Fair each year and showing her chickens, turkeys and pigs.
Adolphe is involved in basketball and acrobatics. She likes exercising and learning new routines.
Her hobbies include crafting, camping, hiking, piano, swimming and spending time with her friends and family.
She plans to attend the University of Washington to study medicine and become a pediatrician.
