Christian writers set inaugural monthly meeting

PORT ANGELES — Olympic Peninsula Christian Writers will host the group’s inaugural monthly meeting Thursday.

The group will meet from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Peninsula Evangelical Friends Church, 1291 N. Barr Road, Port Angeles.

Admission is free, but donations will be accepted to help cover costs.

“Our purpose is to support professional writing and networking for people who have a Christian worldview and value system, regardless of the genre in which they write or their experience level,” lead organizer Crystal Linn said.

Resource materials and light snacks will be offered.

The writers group grew from the Christian Writers Conference held at Dungeness Community Church last November — a second conference is being planned for Nov. 3 at the same location, Linn said — but the group is also responding to the requests members heard for weekly critique groups and monthly skill-building meetings.

Three critique groups have begun meeting at various locations around the North Olympic Peninsula, she said.

“The Friends Church is centrally located between Port Angeles and Sequim, making it convenient for writers from all areas of Clallam and Jefferson counties to meet on the third Thursday of each month,” Linn said.

Conference information is available at www.opcwc.com.
