‘Booming lion’s voice’ at Storynight tonight in Port Townsend

PORT TOWNSEND — Tonight’s First Friday Storynight, the monthly get-together at the Better Living Through Coffee cafe, features singer, storyteller and PT Songlines leader Laurence Cole.

“This is not one to be missed,” said Storynight host Brian Rohr. “And as is our tradition, we will also host an open mic section, so please bring your own short story to share.”

“The only rules are it must obviously be a story, and no reading; everything must be shared in the ways of the oral tradition,” he said.

Storynight gets under way at 7 p.m. at Better Living, 100 Tyler St., and admission is a suggested donation of $10.

‘Fierce tenderness’

Cole, Rohr said, will bring “his booming lion’s voice” to the cafe, as well as “his fierce tenderness . . . and his passionate and loving heart.”

A longtime resident of Port Townsend, Cole has recently released “This Fire,” a CD of 18 songs for singing in groups, fire circles and other gatherings.

The CD is available at www.LaurenceCole.com.
