Book discussion groups announced for month

PORT ANGELES — The North Olympic Library System will host two of its book discussions in person this month.

The Second Saturday and the Wednesday Evening groups will meet outside at the Sequim branch library and the Port Angeles branch library, respectively.

In the event of inclement weather, these meetings will move inside.

The Second Tuesday and the Novel Conversations groups will continue to meet online.

• The Second Tuesday Book Discussion Group will meet online at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, to discuss “The Home Place” by J. Drew Lanham.

Paperback copies are available for pickup at the Port Angeles Library.

In September, the group will discuss “The Nickel Boys” by Colson Whitehead.

• The Second Saturday Book Discussion Group will meet at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, in the field behind the Sequim Branch Library, 601 N. Sequim Ave., Sequim.

The group will discuss “Anxious People” by Fredrik Backman; paperback copies are available for pickup at the Sequim Library.

The group will discuss “Dinner with Edward” by Isabel Vincent in September.

• The Novel Conversations Book Discussion Group is set to meet online at 4 p.m. Aug. 24 to talk about “My Own Country” by Abraham Verghese.

Paperback copies are available for pickup at the Sequim Library.

The group plans to discuss “The Undocumented Americans” by Karla Cornejo Villavicencio in September.

• The Wednesday Evening Book Discussion Group will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, in the courtyard outside the Port Angeles Main Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., Port Angeles.

The group will discuss “Two Years Eight Months and Twenty-Eight Nights” by Salman Rushdie; paperback copies are available for pickup at the Port Angeles Library.

Its September selection is “Indianapolis” by Lynn Vincent.

Registration, at www.nols.org, is required to join the online meetings and is recommended for the in-person discussions.
