PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County Mothers Club — or CCMC, as it is more commonly known — will hold its 17th annual Biker Toy Run on Saturday.
Laura Anderson, vice president of the club, said the group is hoping to have more than the 100 riders that showed up last year.
“It will, of course, really depend on the weather, but we think we can exceed last year,” Anderson said.
The event is a toy drive for the Salvation Army. The charity annually gives away toys to families in need.
Saturday’s event will kick off at 2 p.m. at 7 Cedars Casino.
Anyone who wants to donate a new, unwrapped toy may drop it off at the event, and anyone riding in the event is requested to bring one, Anderson said.
“That is sort of our ‘dues’ for the event,” she said.
“We’ll have a really nice ride back to Port Angeles, which will probably take us about 45 minutes.”
There will be a group photo in front of the casino at 3:15 p.m.
The bikers will leave at 3:30 p.m. to ride to the Port Angeles Eagles Club, 110 S. Penn St., where live music, door prizes and a raffle for door prizes will kick off a night of fun and donations for the Salvation Army.
The Salvation Army truck will also be at the Eagles Club to take any other donations that evening.
Tickets for the event are $10 for a couple, or $7 for a single ticket, Anderson said.
“Either way, they’ll get one raffle ticket,” she said.
“The great part is that every bit of it goes to the Salvation Army.”
In addition to the toys donated, any proceeds will also be donated for the Salvation Army to purchase more gifts if needed.
“The Salvation Army gets applications from all sorts of people and then based on need they give out presents to families,” Anderson said.
“I got involved really this year for the first time when my friend was looking to build up the club again.
“It is such a great thing because I think that everyone has had a hard time at one time or another.
“We all can relate to that.”
The Salvation Army can receive direct donations if someone cannot make it to the run but still wants to donate, Anderson said.
