PORT ANGELES — Public libraries through April 18 are offering The Big Read, billed as “the world’s largest digital book club.”
North Olympic Library System (NOLS) can read or listen to “Music Is History,” by Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, as an eBook or eAudiobook with no waitlists or holds.

“Music Is History” focuses on the years 1971 to the present as the author, who goes by the name Questlove, finds the hidden connection, “whether investigating how the blaxploitation era reshaped Black identity or considering the way disco took an assembly-line approach to Black genius,” program organizers said.
“These critical inquiries are complemented by his own memories as a music fan, and the way his appetite for pop culture taught him about America,” they said.
“A history of the last half-century and an intimate conversation with one of music’s most influential and original voices, ‘Music Is History’ is a singular look at contemporary America.”
Questlove won this year’s Oscar for documentary feature with “Summer of Soul (… or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised),” about the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival.
In addition to making films and writing books, he is the drummer for the hip-hop group The Roots.
Big Library Read is an international reading program that connects readers around the world with an eBook through public libraries.
