Assured Hospice to host grief gathering

PORT ANGELES — Assured Hospice will host a holiday grief gathering at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Port Angeles Senior Center, 328 E. Seventh St.

All are welcome to remember and honor those who have been lost.

Organizers encourage the community to call the hospice office at 360-582-3796 to provide the name of the person to be remembered and staff will put it on the holiday tree.

“This is a meaningful ritual to help us all transform our heartache and shift our focus from grief to gratitude,” organizers said.

The event is a non-denominational gathering as names of loved ones are read, and a remembrance bell rung in their honor.

“Death and loss have never been easy topics, and yet everyone is grieving someone or something,” organizers note. “The holidays can be a challenging time to grieve alone. There is great healing value in coming together as a community to acknowledge our losses and honor those people, pets, or circumstances we miss so deeply.”

To submit the name of a loved one to be read aloud and to have a personalized ornament placed on the holiday tree, call 360-582-3796 or email to rhonda.hull@lhcgroup.com.
