Prairie lecture

PORT TOWNSEND — Sarah Hamman will present “Novel Plant Communities and Partnerships: Strategies for Prairie Habitat Conservation and Restoration in Western Washington” at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Hamman will address a meeting of the Olympic Chapter of the Washington Native Plant Society at the Port Townsend Community Center, 620 Tyler St.

Hamman is a restoration ecologist for the Center for Natural Lands Management, a conservation nonprofit based in Washington and California.

The public is invited to attend the meeting that begins with social time at 6:30 p.m.

Sea pilot to speak

PORT TOWNSEND — Richard McCurdy will present “Life as a Sea Pilot” from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

McCurdy will address a meeting of the Point Wilson Sail and Power Squadron at the Port Townsend Yacht Club, 2503 Washington St.

McCurdy will talk about his path to pilotage, discuss the industry and explain the process of sea pilot licensure.

Book trivia

CHIMACUM — Jefferson County Library will host a trivia competition at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The competition will be at The Keg & I, 1291 Chimacum Road.

Questions will feature science, local history, pop culture, geography and other topics.

An extra point will be awarded to teams who present their library cards.

Attendees must be 21 years old or older.

Soroptimist to meet

SEQUIM — Washington Trafficking Prevention will present “Responding to the Sexual Exploitation and Trafficking of Youth” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The free presentation, sponsored by Soroptimist International of Sequim, will be at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave.

The public is invited.

Senior dance

PORT ANGELES — Cat’s Meow will perform for a swing dance from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The dance will be in the Port Angeles Senior and Community Center, 328 E. Seventh St.

Refreshments will be served from 8 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Admission is $5 per person; first-time attendees are admitted free.
