20th anniversary for Unity pastor

PORT TOWNSEND — Unity in Port Townsend will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Rev. Pam Douglas-Smith’s pastorship during its 11 a.m. service on Sunday.

The service is in the Unity Spiritual Enrichment Center, 3918 San Juan Ave.

A potluck party will follow the service.

While working as a registered nurse in Texas, Douglas-Smith trained as a volunteer chaplain at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, where she discovered her calling to the ministry.

She graduated from the ministerial program at Unity Village, Mo.

When Douglas-Smith and her husband Lane moved to Port Townsend in 2003, Unity was meeting in the Masonic Hall. Since then, it has opened the Spiritual Enrichment Center, which offers services, workshops, concerts and hosts meditation groups.

During her tenure with Unity, Douglas-Smith has led pilgrimages and retreats to St. Francis and St. Claire in Italy, to the Mystical Cathars and Path of the Magdalene in France, on the Celtic Grail Quest in England, Wales and Scotland and to the holy isle of Iona in Scotland.
