2023 Golden Trowel awards presented to Clallam gardeners

SEQUIM — The Clallam County Master Gardeners presented Golden Trowel awards to three members at a recent ceremony at the Woodcock Demonstration Garden in Sequim.

The recipients of the 2023 awards are Peggy Goette, Valarie Bowers and Marsha Robin.

The awards are presented annually to master gardeners who have been active in the organization for more than seven years and have donated more than 750 hours of volunteer time.

A rock paver for each of the honorees will be added to the pathway at the Woodcock Demonstration Garden with pavers memorializing the previous 85 Golden Trowel recipients.

The new awardees have volunteered time in such varied activities as care and maintenance of various areas of the Woodcock Demonstration Garden; educational outreach to the community through plant clinics, garden walks, presentations and demonstrations at the Port Angeles Fifth Street Community Garden; assisting with the annual plant sale and Petals to Pathways garden tour; and assisting with ongoing garden projects.
