2018 Winterfest raises $55K for Hurricane Ridge activities

PORT ANGELES — With 350 people in attendance, the 2018 Winterfest gala raised more than $55,000 to promote all facets of winter recreational activities at Hurricane Ridge.

The Hurricane Ridge Winter Sports Education Foundation, in conjunction with the Hurricane Ridge Winter Sports Club, held its 21st annual fundraiser Nov. 17 at Vern Burton Community Center in Port Angeles.

More than $55,000 was raised during the event.

The Guest of Honor award this year was given to Bill and Mimi Tiderman, who have served on the ridge’s ski patrol team for more than 30 years and have shaped the volunteer patrol program at Hurricane Ridge, event organizers said.

The Tidermans retired from ski patrol duties at the end of last season.

The Hurricane Ridge Winter Sports Education Foundation provides funds for educational programs, athletic scholarships and financial aid, necessary equipment, instructional training and various special events.
